A Sunday morning Wakeup powerbreath..
This morning ritual gets me up and motivated , in the moment, in a good mood, focused and in peak condition.
So here’s how we do it:
Take in 5 secs of air slowly
Hold for 20 seconds
Exhale for 10 seconds
Do this in the morning and throughout the day.
Then find your winning moments where you felt ten foot tall and bulletproof. My examples are things like:
-the super 8 in high school wrestling that I pinned the kid last moment to win it for our team by one team point
-working up the courage to ask out my first girlfriend and being scared but her saying yes
-The feeling I get any time I plan out something special for my wife or get her gifts that she absolutely loves and she tells me I’m awesome
And so on…
Come up with some of your own and really make this personal.
Do you have that feeling inside yet?
Let out that feeling! Yell jump up and down let out your warrior cry as loud as you can and FEEL IT!
BAD HABITS AND HOW TO REPLACE THEM:
So there’s a story of tha sage and a little boy who’s father wanted to break him of his bad habits but didn’t know how.
The sage kindly got the boy the next day and walked with him. The boy boasted of being strong and the sage asked him to pull out a weed next to the road.
The boy pulled and ripped the weed out instantaneously. So they walked a little further, and the sage pointed now to a small plant that had just begun to grow it’s roots.
The boy pulled and pulled and finally after much effort yanked the plant out completely.
Next the sage pointed to a bush and told the boy to pull it out.
The boy pulled and pulled as hard as he could finally giving up and exclaiming “it’s just impossible!”..
“Yes it is, with that attitude” said the sage.
Bad habits are much like the Bush that has been rooted for so long.
Don’t wait for your habits to grow roots. Don’t let them take control over your life rip them out before they take hold.
Habits don’t get eliminated, they get replaced:
Bad habits usually come from stress and boredom.
Stress and boredom a lot of times comes from Deeper issues and it’s sometimes tough to think of them and confront those Deeper reasons
**Recognizing those bad habits is crucial to replacing them with good ones **
Bad habits are a simple way to cope with stress and boredom. I don’t think I’m bored. But stress is definitely a huge thing that I have to continually manage.
What do you think is your biggest trigger for your bad habits?
SO HOW DO WE FIND THINGS TO REPLACE THESE BAD HABITS WITH:
One thing to replace it with is those breathing exercises.
Another that I think would work is allowing yourself smaller pleasures to avoid the more detrimental habits until you can finally get control again.
What are some other things?
SECOND: CUT OUT AS MANY TRIGGERS AS POSSIBLE
“Change your environment, change your outcome”
Ex: if you smoke when you drink, don’t go to the bar lol
What are more things I can cut out?
Step 3: finding people who are living the lifestyle that you want and being around them
This is pretty self explanatory since we all know that you are the product of the top five people that you spend time with.
Finding others that are not only on the same mission as you but also have accomplished thing that you want to accomplish can be huge!
Step 4: visualize yourself achieving that goal or dream
-“we don’t have to even become new people we just have to return to not having those bad habits ”
We haven’t had those habits all our lives so we’ve lived without it before so we definitely can do it again
Visualization is absolutely huge and crucial to your achieving the goals you want to achieve but it’s much like taking a bath. You can’t do it one time and expect to be set for life.
Step 5: learn to laugh at yourself and see the upside
–don’t beat yourself up about going off track it’s okay you’re human!
The difference between the great and you and me is that they get back on track very very quickly
So don’t get down on yourself. Instead ask yourself, what can I do to get back on track to being successful.
Step 6: Track your bad habits:
Become aware of the bad habits how many times they happen what they were etc.
Keep a tally and try to improve those numbers
Replace “hillclimb2” with working on providing more value to others
